Storytelling: driving

The first time I ever drove a car, I was about 5 years old. I don't think I had started school yet and it's a vague memory of early childhood.

What I do remember is that I was driving on Avenue I one day with my dad. I don't know where we were going or why, but eventually, he decided to let me drive. He sat me on his lap , let me take the wheel aaaaandddd.... I promptly drove off the road. I'm not entirely sure there wasn't an open beer can in the car, but that's a whole other story.

What did I learn?

If you can't see over the steering wheel, you probably won't be able to steer. Better yet, if you've never steered before and all you know about driving is based off of cartoons, it's probably not best to do a live run-through as your first experience.

And, most importantly, cartoon driving is not equivalent to real-life driving. Much less turning of the wheel.
