Today I learned that people don't actually follow their own rules, even professors.
I was sick the first part of this week and missed classes on Monday and Tuesday so when I was going around telling professors I was sick and I made sure to have an "I had an appointment at health services so excuse my absence and don't take it out of the ridiculous participation percentage you calculated into my COLLEGE grade" slip. Normally I would just let my professors know I was sick, no problem. But this semester, most of them had on their syllabi written in bold, underlined, italicized writing that no absences would be excused without valid documentation.
Turns out, none of them care. Imagine that!
